 Trainers: 

Debbie Duncan, LMFT, RPT-S, RPM has more than 20 years of experience working with children. She has taught, mentored, and consulted in areas of child therapy and early intervention. For more than eighteen years, she worked at Fresno County Children’s Mental Health, initially with court-ordered cases and later was collocated at the Assessment Center for Children. Debbie is a Registered Play Therapist/Supervisor, Endorsed Infant-Early Childhood Mental Health Specialist/Reflective Practice Mentor, and is a Circle of Security Parenting Facilitator. Debbie consults with individuals and groups regarding early childhood therapy and reflective practice. 

Julie Torok-Mangasarian, LMFT, RPT-S, RPM is a licensed marriage and family therapist and the Clinical Director of the California Psychological Institute in Fresno, CA. Julie is a Registered Play Therapist/Supervisor, infant mental health specialist, reflective practice mentor and certified educator of infant massage (CEIM). Julie specializes in use of play to treat complex and developmental trauma in young children. 

Co-hosted with the California Psychological Institute who is approved by the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists to sponsor continuing education for LMFT’s, LCSW’s, LPCC’s and/or LEP’s. California Psychological Institute maintains responsibility for this program/course content. Certificates will be hand delivered at time of training sign-out.

CEU’s: 6 hours of continuing education credit for LMFT’s, LCSW’s, LPCC’s and/or LEP’s as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. Prov. # 131780. 

APT: 6 Contact Play Therapy Credit Hours. Solace Center is an approved trainer for the Association of Play Therapy (APT Approved Provider #17-521). 

IMH Hours: Workshop is aligned with the California Training Guidelines and Personnel Competencies and Professional Endorsement Criteria for Infant-Family and Early Childhood Mental Health (2016). 1-hour in Area B; 1-hour in Area C; 1-hour in Area E; and 3-hours in Area F.

Course Description: This course is designed to help individuals working with children understand the importance of play therapy as a therapeutic modality for treatment. This course will also focus on utilizing play in observation, screening and assessment to meet the developmental needs of young children and families. Additionally, this course will review play therapy as a modality to address the impact of chronic stress and developmental trauma on brain development and social-emotional regulation.
