Message from 2013 Board President Steve Weathersbee

December 28, 2012 3:16 PM | Anonymous

Dear Colleagues in Healing:

An ancient Chinese proverb states: “A single conversation with a wise man is better than ten years of study.”

When I reflect on the many, many conversations I have had with fellow therapists at the CAMFT monthly meetings, workshops, and special events over the past six years, I am deeply grateful for the growth I have experienced.  Being a life-long learner is very important to me and I develop both professionally and personally through cross-fertilization.  For me it has been vital to have times of interaction with those who share my passion to effect healing in others, but who do not necessarily share my theoretical approach to therapy.   We of the Redding Area Chapter of CAMFT prize our diversity, which is our strength.  Our vision is to facilitate the skill enhancement of our local therapeutic community and the mutual enrichment that comes through rubbing shoulders with fellow professionals.  Being the best that we can possibly be for our clients is a high value for us all.

I want to challenge you to hop on board by renewing your membership in the local chapter and making the commitment to be involved with your colleagues; bring your expertise and experience to the table and share your valuable perspectives with others.  The benefits of membership are numerous, not the least of which are the free CEU’s you can earn at the monthly meetings (every 2nd Thursday at noon) and the discounts you receive in attending the special workshops.  Among the other events that are planned, we are excited about bringing back David Jensen, J.D., to present the Legal Ethical Workshop on March 1st.  You will want to renew your chapter membership right away in order to take advantage of the discounted rate for this event (more details to come).

I am looking forward to the good things in store for 2013!  Come join the ride!

Sincerely,

Stephen Weathersbee, LMFT                                                                                                                                2013 President of RRC-CAMFT
