Course Overview

The morning session will address treatment for juvenile offenders. The afternoon will be on the topic of male victims of abuse.

Treatment strategies for each category of sexual issues in young people will be identified. The key elements of these strategies will be discussed and case examples will be used to illustrate their application. The training will also discuss the value and risks of individual, group and family therapy.

Learning Objectives:

1. Participants will be able to identify at least five types of problematic sexual behaviors in young people.

2. Participants will be able to analyze what makes an effective screening tool and assessment when working with young people with sexual behavior issues and male victims.

3. Participants will be able to list at least three effective treatment strategies for treating young people with problematic sexual behaviors and/or young male victims.

4. Participants will be able to give examples of at least five elements that help identify a high-risk youthful sex offender.
