As a pre-licensed individual (students, trainees, or associates), joining the RRC-CAMFT can be especially valuable. Here are a few reasons why!

1. Connection

    • Connecting with experienced licensed therapists early in your career can offer guidance and possibly open avenues for supervision for required hours.
    • Connecting with others who are on the same journey towards licensure can help navigate the road to licensure.

2. Opportunity

    • When you attend meetings, there is a high potential to meeting your next potential employers or clinical supervisors. What a great way to get to know experts int the field without the pressure of first-impression interviews!
    • Open the door to referrals! Get referrals for internships and associate positions at local practices or agencies.

3. Discount Trainings

    • Who doesn’t love free and reduced training when we’re building a client base?

    • Stay current with specialized training that strengthens clinical skills before licensure.

    • RRC-CAMFT offers many cutting-edge and relevant workshops and events with reduced rates or free admission for students, trainees, and associates.

4. Support & Study Groups

    • Join study groups for the licensure exams & gain peer support from others on the same journey.
    • Stay informed about BBS requirements and changes in laws affecting pre-licensed therapists.

Joining the RRC-CAMFT can make your journey to licensure smoother while helping build confidence, connections, and skills.

We look forward to you being part of RRC-CAMFT!

TIPS TO SUCCESSFULLY SUBMIT AN ASSOCIATE APPLICATION

1. SUBMIT APP TO BBS WITHIN 90 DAYS OF GRADUATING – To count post-degree hours earned prior to the issuance of your associate number. See 90 Day Rule FAQ for the details, https://www.bbs.ca.gov/pdf/90day_rule.pdf.

2. KEEP YOUR COMPLETED WORKPLACE LIVE SCAN FINGERPRINTING FORM – this is different from the Live Scan to be completed for your associate application. See 90 Day Rule FAQ above for details.

3. VALID EMAIL ADDRESS – Use an email address you will have access to after graduation to ensure you receive notices about your application status. It will be used for correspondence through your entire exam & licensure process. To update your email, complete a Change of Address in your BreEZe account, https://www.bbs.ca.gov/pdf/breeze_change_email.pdf.

4. SUBMIT A COMPLETE APPLICATION PACKET – Make sure to complete all sections on the application. Missing something small like a signature or address of record will delay your application. Read all the instructions. Keep a copy of your application for your records. Make sure you fill out the check correctly and sign it.

5. MAIL WITH TRACKING & DELIVERY CONFIRMATION – We are unable to confirm receipt of apps or payments. Be sure to mail with tracking and delivery confirmation.

6. REQUEST TRANSCRIPTS OR PROGRAM CERTS ABOUT THE SAME TIME YOU SUBMIT YOUR APP – Requesting official transcripts or program certs from your school earlier than when you submit your application, may cause delays. It is recommended to request these items within 2 weeks of submitting your application to BBS.

7. PROCESSING TIMES – Apps are processed in date order received and standard processing time is 30 days but can be longer during graduation seasons. Follow us on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter for weekly updates.

8. USE THE FAQ’s – Before contacting the Board, we highly suggest reading the FAQ’s, https://www.bbs.ca.gov/updates_faqs/faqs.html, and other handbooks on each Applicant page https://www.bbs.ca.gov/applicants/. The more emails the evaluators get, the more time it takes away from processing apps.
