"Gaining Awareness of Boundaries and Codependency in Our Own Lives:  The Path to Nurturing Healthier Interactions With Our Clients."

By gaining awareness and acceptance of our own expectations of our client's self-insight and willingness to change and grow, we are able to nurture healthier boundaries and facilitate more trusting therapeutic relationships.  This presentation will identify and address awareness and  acceptance of our own codependent traits, and provide guidance for self-reflection and personal growth to better assist our clients.

Julie Trudeau

Julie began her career in Los Angeles in 1985 working in a diverse array of mental health settings with high risk adolescents and families.  Obtaining her M.S. Degree in Marriage, Family and Child Counseling from California State University Northridge in 1994, Julie continued working with homeless and runaway youth.  She then spent over six years as a Child Abuse Investigator for the L.A. County Children & Family Services.

Julie’s focus shifted when she relocated to Shasta county over a decade ago, to working with alcohol and addiction recovery, becoming a certified Recovery Coach.  Working for Shasta Options, Julie gained a wealth of experience with diverse populations in a variety of settings throughout Shasta and Tehama counties.  She simultaneously developed a private practice working with individuals, couples and families.

Julie spent over five years leading an HIV support group and has developed and continues to lead an LGBT support group in Shasta County.  In private practice, Julie specializes in client-centered Solution Focused Therapy working with women, men and couples, and particularly those dealing with alcoholism/addiction and codependency-related issues.  Julie also provides trainings on healthy personal/professional boundaries on a local, state, national and international level.

Julie is proud to call Northern California her home.  She enjoys time with family and friends, traveling, cooking, hiking, photography, personal growth experiences, and is a die-hard San Francisco Giants fan.  She can be found at AT&T Park on many occasions throughout baseball season.
