SUICIDE PREVENTION

This presentation focuses on QPR…Question, Persuade, Refer…an effective suicide prevention model.  Besides discussing effective ways of communicating with someone contemplating, or potentially contemplating, suicide, it will also explore risk factors and protective factors, clues and warning signs as well as myths and facts surrounding suicide and suicidal ideation.  Community resources will also be discussed.



AMY STURGEON

My official title is Community Education Specialist II for the Shasta County HHSA’s Public Health Branch, Suicide Prevention Program.  I received my Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Biology from Southern Oregon University, and my Master’s degree in Public Health from Touro University of Health Sciences in Vallejo, California.  My work is currently focused on educating our community on suicide prevention through training and outreach, and working with community partners to provide resource information to the public.
