VULNERABILITY AS A HELPING PROFESSIONAL

Jenni Odell, MFT, and DaLene Forester, PhD, have run several workshops specifically for therapists and helping professionals, addressing the vulnerability obstacles we face when dealing with our own personal challenges in a profession that often propels an idea that we have to have it ‘all together.’  We will be discussing how to Brave the wilderness of working in the helping fields, working through our own issues of shame or guilt, daring to be vulnerable, within the parameters of professional and personal boundaries.

JENNI ODELL

Jenni Odell is a licensed MFT who began her private practice in the Redding area under the supervision of DaLene Forester in 2012 before completing her licensure and establishing her own practice.  In Feburary of 2014, she took a leap of faith and embarked on the journey of becoming certified in Brene Brown’s curriculum through her company “The Daring Way.”  Brene Brown’s books and subsequent curriculums have continued to inform Jenni’s practice, providing therapy that focuses on underlying messages of shame that undermine our self-worth and the obstacles we face to being vulnerable in our lives – the true path to connection and belonging.  DaLene’s certification in the Daring Way has allowed Jenni and DaLene to co-facilitate workshops and retreats that continue to inform and develop them as people and practitioners.

DaLENE FORESTER

DaLene Forester, PhD is dually Licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist and Professional Clinical Counselor here in Redding. She provides clinical supervision and mentorship to Interns, teaches and trains therapists through the Advanced Education Institute and as an adjunct professor at National University. DaLene has been in private practice in Redding for 20 years and specializes in the treatment of Eating Disorders, PTSD and Anxiety Disorders.

She is the author of two chapters in Robin Shapiro's "EMDR Solutions II" on the treatment of bulimia and body dysmorphia. She has presented nationally on the topics of Eating Disorders and treatment modalities for the treatment of Eating Disorders including EMDR.

Jenni and DaLene are both certified Daring Way facilitators.
