Call To Artists

California based arts non-profit ART from the ashes (AFTA) is partnering with the Shasta County community to initiate a platform of creative programs supporting the community’s renewal in the aftermath of the Carr Fire. In the Fall of 2019, ART from the ashes: Seeds of Re- growth Exhibition will take place in Redding, CA. In the spirit of “Support. Inspire. Create. Renew.” participating artists will donate their time and talent to transform materials salvaged from fire site locations into one-of-a-kind works of art. Each work of art symbolizes one’s ability to renew, rebuild and persevere.

Proceeds from the exhibition will support the Community Disaster Relief Fund (Shasta Regional Community Foundation) and Whiskeytown National Recreation Area (Friends of Whiskeytown).

Requirements:

All works in this exhibition must incorporate or be inspired from fire site material. Participating artists will select materials including wood, metal, glass, found objects and organic materials from AFTA’s materials storage location in Redding, CA. Artists with access to these type of materials from other sources may use those as well.

*Participating artists must arrange to select materials from AFTA storage in Redding or have access and/or permission to salvaged fire site materials from the local/regional area.
