Working with Gender Diverse and Transgender Clients in Therapy
Danni Mason has been working in the field of Marriage and Family Therapy for 25 years and has been in private practice for 17 years. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree at California State University, Chico in Psychology. She received her Master’s Degree from Loma Linda University in Marriage and Family Therapy. Danni started in the field working full time with chemically dependent clients in a non-profit setting. She facilitated a 10 hour per week out-patient perinatal treatment program working specifically with drug addicted mothers, most of them had had their children removed by CPS, were homeless and were in a multidisciplinary drug court program seeking reunification. She trained for an additional three years at a sexual assault and domestic violence center working with victims of domestic violence, rape and molest. In private practice, she specializes in working with victims of trauma and clients in recovery from drug addiction and alcoholism. Danni is married and has five children, one of which is transgender. She presents on the topics of drug/alcohol recovery and gender diversity.

Clinical Sensitivity and Biases
This presentation is designed to benefit Marriage, Family Therapy Licensed Clinicians as well as Associates and Interns to directly improve the quality of clinical care given to individuals who are gender diverse. The goal of the presentation is to increase practitioners knowledge and understanding of gender diverse individuals and to inform and educate them on medical and psychotherapeutic interventions that will benefit clients struggling with depression and/or anxiety related to a gender issue.
